As summer is heating up, now is a good time to think about and prepare for natural disasters such as fires, earthquakes and mudslides.
The challenge this week is to look through the below Red Cross Earthquake safety document and put together a checklist for your own home along with a disaster box. Inside this disaster box should include things like emergency water, non-perishable food items, a flashlight, batteries, etc. (see the checklist below). Everyone in your household should know where this box lives and also know where the meeting spot is in case you get separated.
We hope that we never have to enact these plans; however, it is extremely important that we are prepared in the event of an emergency!

California Wine Festival: Beachside

Thousands of wine lovers pour into Santa Barbara’s sun-splashed beachside location for a day of sun, sea, wine, food, and music.
Wine connoisseurs will find hundreds of fine wines, regional craft brews and a dizzying variety of foods to sample. Taste artisanal cheeses, breads, olive oil, chocolates and more! A live band keeps the beat for this all-day feast for the senses where wine and food are king and queen.
Early entrance ticket holders get an extra hour of tasting starting at 12 p.m.

Comedy for a Cause & Maggie’s Mashup
When: July 18th, 6:00pm
Where: La Lieff Wines
210 Gray Ave
Santa Barbara, CA
Enjoy an afternoon of wine, stand-up comedy, and good vibes at La Lieff Winery in downtown Santa Barbara. Hosted by Maggie’s Mashup, the event features local and nationally touring comedians seen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Comedy Central, Netflix, and more.
The afternoon begins with on-site pet adoptions from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by the comedy showcase. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with seating available on a first come, first served basis. The show begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs through approximately 7:30 p.m.
A portion of proceeds benefits the Santa Barbara Animal Care Foundation.
